I've just signed up to go Over the Edge for Wakeman Boys & Girls Club!  Despite my fear of heights, on September 16, 2018, I will rappel 230 feet down the People's United Bank Building in Bridgeport, CT.  I just hope they have a helmet big enough for my giant melon head.

I know what you are thinking - "Haas has officially lost his mind.".  That might be true, but it is for a great cause.  I have committed to raise awareness (and as much money as possible) to support Wakeman's mission: to guide and inspire young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

I've been on the Board of the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club for 3 years now and have witnessed firsthand the impact that the club has on individual club members, our volunteers, and the broader community.  Through its many programs, the club has transformed many lives and opened countless doors for those who desperately need our help.  Most gratifying is when those club members return to Wakeman and give back so generously, as they often do.

Wakeman serves 3750 members in our two clubhouses in Southport and Bridgeport, a large number of whom are unable to afford membership.  Nearly 250 children attend summer camp at our Bridgeport clubhouse, some for as many as six weeks.  During the school year, 600 children attend our after-school programs in our two clubhouses, where they can play sports, work in the computer room, do arts and crafts, or just have fun in a safe and friendly environment - but only if they finish their homework first!  Supporting these activities and the incredible professional staff at Wakeman are 218 teens who volunteered nearly 9000 hours last year to tutor students, coach aspiring athletes, and counsel young campers.

Hopefully you are as inspired as I am about the opportunity to support Wakeman.  If so, please spread the word about our great work and if you can, make a donation to help continue and enhance our programs.

Please help me reach my goal so that I can go Over the Edge for Wakeman!
